East 2 West Update: Police Community Youth PastorPaul and Nick are our Police Community Youth Pastors. Paul is based in Egham, Nick in Windsor. This is an unusual role as they work in partnership with the police in their area to provide support to young people. Their role is not about simply seeking to curb poor behaviour; it is about enabling a young person to unpack the reasons why they behave in such a way and to bring hope into their lives. Please pray for: o One of the PCYPs works with a boy who has anger issues. Pray that he gets the help he needs and that he will have his mental health assessment soon. Pray for encouragement for the PCYP and also for wisdom as he thinks and prays about how to help him. o Pray for the new employability course, ”Inspire”, which is run by one of the PCYPs on Mondays and Tuesdays. Pray that the young people who attend will be encouraged, gain confidence and be able to find and maintain employment. o Pray as the PCYPs meet with young people who are homeless, unemployed, have mental/physical health problems, low confidence, no qualifications, or are dealing with family breakdown. Pray that God will reveal himself to these precious young people and turn their lives around with the support of the PCYPs as well as surrounding them with other Christians. o Pray for the local youth drop-in which is co-run on Wednesday nights by the police and Surrey County Council. Pray that the Christian staff are a good witness and show these young people what it means to be a child of God. Pray that they are a listening ear and good support to those who need it. Give thanks for: o The young people on the “Inspire” course who are making good progress towards employment. o Two young people who have actually found work. o The Pooley Green Youth Team who organised the Wild West fun day. It was a big success and the young people were encouraged and motivated by it. o The credibility of east 2 west enabling the PCYPs to be part of significant networks and helping them to make a difference and witness at high levels. |
