District Bellringers’ Outing – Picture ReviewOn 10th October, the Chertsey District Outing of the Guildford Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers saw 40 people (and three dogs!) attending at various times for an enjoyable and companionable day in the Redhill area. Towers visited (number of bells) were Merstham( 8), Chaldon (chime of 6, also noted for replica of a medieval bell and ‘Doom’ wall painting), Nutfield (6), Bletchingley (10), Lingfield (8), Godstone (8), Outwood (4) and Horley (8),as well as a detour to Outwood Mill, the oldest working post mill in England, for a treat. Ringers attended from Chertsey and Egham towers, as well as from Bournemouth, Chobham, East Molesey, Esher, Horsell, Merrow, Oatlands, Ockham, Old Woking, Send, Staines, and Walton on Thames. In addition to nominal donations given to each tower, the Bell Restoration Funds of the Guildford Diocesan Guild and of the Surrey Association of Church Bell Ringers will also receive a donation.
