Light Party at St Peter’s Church - ReviewAs an alternative to Halloween, St Peter’s Church staged a Light Party in the church hall on Saturday 31st October for children aged 4 – 11 years. There was tremendous fun with parachute games, a short illustrated talk and much singing, followed by some delicious hot dogs, pizza and puddings, for which the children “competed” - do-nuts were ‘caught’ and eaten off of a piece of string, and in the Chocolate Game the children took turns to throw a dice, and each time a six was thrown that child had to don hat, scarf and gloves to eat as much of a choc bar as they could manage until another person threw a six. The afternoon concluded with goodie bag and a craft activity to make beautiful lanterns from black card, tissue paper and a glow stick, to be used in the Lantern Walk afterwards. Parents joined in for the walk, singing along, to Abbey Field where several Chinese Lanterns were set to float away in the night sky. This was a lovely conclusion to a wonderful afternoon; and everyone loved the lanterns, including the parents! (-- Christine Leach)
