Thy Kingdom Come – Prayer Week Picture Review

Archbishops Justine and John expressed their longing “to see a great wave of prayer across the land, throughout the Church of England and many other Churches” from 8 -15 May - a week of prayer that culminated in ‘Beacon Events’ around the country over Pentecost weekend, with people praying for the renewal of the Holy Spirit and the confidence to share their faith.
The Archbishops suggested various ways churches could engage with the week of prayer, including holding a day or week of continuous 24/7 prayer; saying special prayers in Sunday worship; prayer walking; handing out novena prayer cards; or opening their churches with prayer stations. Many of our Runnymede churches responded, engaging in a variety of the suggested ways.
Also within this week fell the well-attended presentation about “Confidence in Sharing Your Faith” with Alan Hulme, Director of Parish Development and Evangelism at Guildford Diocese, speaking at Christ Church Virginia Water, who at the same time had a setup of prayer stations available (see photo collage below).

It doesn’t have to end there, though. Those who were a part of Thy Kingdom Come Prayer Week and those who weren’t – why not think about continuing a variety of prayer events? Ideas for a Runnymede Deanery Week of Prayer later in the year are also welcome...
