Christmas Festivities in Thorpe - Picture ReviewThorpe Village came alive in December with a range of church led community events and services. The Christmas Fayre in Thorpe Village Hall on Saturday 11th saw hundreds of people celebrating the festive season as Father Christmas led everyone to church in a festive procession to see the new tower lights switched-on. Over 200 sung carols by candlelight on Sunday 18th, led by a 16 strong choir, and Christmas Eve saw the church packed to the rafters with people of all ages and over 90 children for the interactive ‘Living Crib Service’ with real animals! Midnight Mass struck a more traditional note with bible readings, carols, sermon and Holy Communion and of course a hint of incense as a large congregation celebrated the birth of our Lord once more. The tower lights will be switched-on again at various points during 2012 to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee and Olympics. – Revd Damian Miles
