Advent in the Deanery – a few pictures…Every year we highlight here a few of the events going on in Advent and Christmas time around the deanery. This year we have: Making Advent Wreaths under expert and encouraging tuition, with yummy homemade refreshments and a thought-provoking testimony, at Christ Church Virginia Water. Great fun and unique Advent wreaths to inspire quiet thoughts in the weeks before Christmas.
The annual Toy Service for the benefit of Project Genesis, a Mother’s Union project at Holy Trinity, Lyne & Longcross: everybody brings a toy to the service to be donated into the big sled – all toys go to a deprived area in Sheffield.
Songs of Praise at St Peter’s Church in Chertsey – favourite Christmas carols and a party with all the trimmings, always hugely popular with the older members of the community.
And a Ladies’ Christmas Crafts Workshop, at Christ Church, Virginia Water again – they are a creative lot! Ten different projects to choose from, making gifts and seasonal decorations…
