Praying for Persecuted ChristiansAs we are sadly very aware, our Christian sisters and brothers in many parts of our world face physical persecution, often in war zones and also where there is violence between different races and ethnic groups. Please continue to pray for our fellow believers in northern Nigeria where our link with Kebbi Diocese brings news of suffering and sacrifice as well as incredible faith and miraculous blessing. Archbishop Edmund oversees eleven dioceses including Sokoto, which adjoins Kebbi and which Keith, our lay chairman, has also visited. Before the recent Federal Presidential election, we learnt that Revd Anthony Idris Jatau serving in Sokoto diocese was murdered and his wife and five other family members kidnapped. Another bishop in the area has been able to make contact with the kidnappers but faces a ransom demand. Archbishop Edmund is leading prayers for divine intervention and covets our prayers as well. |
