“Diane Peters has been to the refugee camps in Calais to see the situation firsthand – as you can imagine, it is wet, muddy and unsanitary. The refugees there need our prayers and help as much as ever.
For now, please continue to give what you can, financially or physically. If you would like to give physical donations, please do so via “Guildford: People to People”. They require men’s trousers sizes 28-32, men’s waterproof hiking shoes sizes 38-45, NEW men’s socks, and sleeping bags. Please do not bring anything other than these items.”
Diane Peters is the diocesan refugee support adviser. She is working with stakeholders in the diocese to help refugees in the camps and arriving in the area. You can read a detailed write-up of her visit on the blog under 6 January, to give you a feel for what it’s like to be a refugee on the Channel coast in winter.
