Are You Sitting Comfortably?
St Paul’s Egham Hythe has undergone significant refurbishment, upgrading their sound system and replacing their existing chairs. Identified as priorities at a PCC vision meeting, work progressed quickly in submitting faculties for both projects – a List B for the AV requirements and a full faculty for the chairs. The underlying purpose of the upgrades is to improve the flexibility of the generous space that the church building provides and to offer a broader opportunity for outreach and community engagement. Since the beginning of the year the new facilities have hosted events such as a Patronal Lunch alongside members of RHUL’S Founder’s Choir, a Messy Shrove Tuesday for local families and school children, an Alpha Course with First Night Supper and a Soup & Bread Lunch after the Ash Wednesday Service (see pictures clockwise from top left). Though the combined cost for both projects was considerable, it was supported with significant grants from The Diocesan Growth Fund, Runnymede Borough Council’s Community First Fund and The County Council Member’s Allocation Fund.
