“Sticking plaster or transforming lives – what can every Christian contribute to fighting poverty?”The recent Open Deanery Synod was an extremely well received and useful meeting with passionate and informative addresses by Sue Gray from Christians Against Poverty’s Debt Centre in Egham, Daniel Howat from the Debt Centre in Addlestone and Iris Partridge from Runnymede Foodbank. The evening was designed to help representatives from our ten Runnymede parishes to recognise how they and their churches can help to alleviate the suffering of many as poverty is making increasing inroads into our affluent neighbourhoods, by joining up with each other and the relief charities in our area. |
