Launch Message for Musical Directors' Network

Background

As a result of the Deanery Mission and Pastoral Plan produced in 2006/2007, our Synod and Standing Committee have thought to establish ways by which good practice within the parishes of the Deanery may be shared more widely. After initial soundings from Synod as to the mission and pastoral areas where sharing may take place, we have begun to set up informal networks, which so far have been well appreciated.

One of these is the Network for Musical Directors which was launched in March 2010 with a general Sharing and Brainstorming Meeting - detailed minutes of this lively exchange can be found here.

Objective

There is clearly a lot of variety in musical worship in our parishes, and a great deal to share. The first meeting has thrown up lots of information from the four parishes present and several interesting ideas for using the network. We would appreciate to hear the points of view from other parishes, too, as well as responses to what is outlined in the minutes (link above). If you are interested in musical worship lease take some time to read the minutes and comment. Input is welcome, not only from the leaders, but from anybody involved in the music of our parishes.

Update March 2010

Another meeting is being planned to give an opportunity for sharing to those who wanted to attend the first meeting but were unable to due to other commitments/illness - if you are a musical leader at one of our churches and would like to attend this meeting please contact Petra to give her an idea of your general availability to enable scheduling.
