Bishop Edmund on Kebbi Synod November 2008 and the Link with Guildford Diocese

Correspondence from Bishop Edmund Akanya, December 2008:

Greetings and compliment of the season to you. We thank God for his faithfulness to us both as a family and in our Diocese. We had a successful synod in November at St  Matthew’s  Church, Yauri. We deliberated seriously on the theme: “Towards the Ministry of Prayer and the Word”.
We got resolved as a Diocese to strengthen our teaching and preaching ministry among our congregations and to spend more time praying. We are preparing the whole Diocese for the observance of the Lenten period praying and fasting for the Church worldwide and our world in general.  (…)
On the issue of our link and the way forward, while I may not be able to speak for other Dioceses, I want to affirm our commitment to the already existing and growing relationship between our Diocese and Runnymede.  All we need to do is to sustain this present tempo by the various activities we embark on for each other. In fact I was going to let you know that we (myself and my wife) were planning to come and visit in early summer i.e. late June or September as may be convenient for you (…). So let me know what is your feeling about that.
We must continue to thank you for the immense role you are playing towards the sustainability of this link.  Remain blessed in Jesus name.
