Spring Concert – Picture Review

On Saturday, 8th May, over 200 people filled the Royal Holloway Chapel to hear a concert featuring local semi-professional artists and the Maidenhead choir Voices Anon, conducted by Guy Bunce and accompanied by Charlotte Dunham. Among the items in the varied program of classical and popular pieces was a medley of songs from the musical 'Oliver', Summer Holiday, Swing Low Sweet Chariot, and 'I know him so well' from Les Mis, performed by Susie Harben and Melanie Pandit. A young and talented musician, Alex Norton aged 11, amazed the audience with his skill on the saxophone and piano, while from the more classical repertoire, pianists Roxanna Galasean and James Webb performed Chopin preludes and a nocturne.  Organ scholar and organist at St Jude's Church, Alex Norman, played an exciting Bach fugue while a French contribution was heard from Louise Bunce with pieces by Poulenc and Saint-Saens on the flute. The
concert also featured two original compositions from living composers Kirsty Devaney with 'Reflected Sunlight' for choir and flute, and Guy Bunce '... a seal upon thine heart' for clarinet (played by Helen Selden) and piano. Over £1000 was raised for St Jude's Church, and the organisers would especially like to thank the Anglican Chaplain, Revd Sally Rogers, for the use of the magnificent chapel. A CD of the concert, which was recorded by a professional sound engineer, will be available to purchase for £10. To reserve a copy please email This email address is being protected from spambots.
