Picture Review: Black Cherry FairThis year’s Black Cherry Fair in Chertsey saw not only one but two unusual projects staged by the local churches: the Chertsey Churches repeated their successful format of bacon butties served by the Vicar himself outside church before the parade and the Grace Café right at the entrance to the fairground with free refreshments, cakes, face painting and musical entertainments, while at the other end of the Abbey Fields St Mary’s Thorpe ran a Sanctuary Tent where mothers with small children could find respite from the crowd and noise in a calmer environment as well as basic nappy changing facilities. Both projects were much appreciated and well frequented.
