News from Kebbi / Thanks for Gift

Here is the reply from Archbishop Edmund after receiving news of the funds recently raised for Kebbi by
St Peter’s Chertsey and St Mary’s Thorpe (see our May newsletter):
“We bring you Calvary greetings from all of us in the Diocese of Kebbi. It's been quite a while and reading from you this morning, especially with what the Lord is doing in the Deanery, gladdens my heart.
We thank the Lord for the divine protection that we have continued to enjoy in the Diocese of Kebbi. Very recently some of our churches sharing a boundary with Zamfara state came under heavy attack from the Fulani herdsmen, which is another brand of Boko Haram. At one point we had to relocate some of the workers in the areas that are mostly affected. While the government is claiming victory over Boko Haram, the group has metamorphosed into this new group as their operations are virtually the same. Our movements now have been curtailed by these groups as they even rob people on the highways and kidnap their victims. The Lord has kept us and our members from falling victim; we thank Him sincerely and thanks for your relentless prayers for us in the Diocese.
I can see from your mail several changes or movements that have taken place in your deanery. We shall continue to remember them all in our prayers especially for those coming into the deanery, that they will have a very fruitful and rewarding time with their congregations.
Once again we extend to the deanery our sincere thanks and appreciation for the gift of £1000 in support of our mission work in the diocese.
Have a wonderful week and God bless, ++Edmund”
