A Community Kitchen for Egham - Christmas 2008 Project

St John's Church Egham in conjunction with Beson and other denominational churches in Egham were reaching out last year for three weeks through the Christmas and New Year season with a "Crisis Café" at 31 The Precinct, Egham (next door to Spec Savers). This exciting project aimed at providing food, fellowship and warmth for the vulnerable and hungry in the community.

God’s hand could be felt strongly in guidance and opportunities, leading the cooperation step by step with the unexpected provision of catering equipment, crockery and a shop! Answers to prayer included electrical equipment (thanks to Orchard Kitchens), tables and chairs (Brunel & RBC), and kitchen provisions (thanks to a local bank). Many organisations and individuals contributed to equipping and preparing the kitchen and seating area, and enough volunteers came forward to keep the Crisis Café open for this time.

The café was a total success with people not only filling the place and benefiting from the free food, but also making good use of the pastoral care available. A very encouraging example of God opening doors for charity and ministry.
