Runnymede Deanery Bishop’s CallBishop Ian visited Runnymede for a variety of events, services and talks with the parish churches and chaplaincies in the deanery during the week of 5th to 11th March. This was part of a series of bishops’ visits to the twelve deaneries of the diocese over three years, to encourage the parishes with their response to the call of Bishop Christopher in his common purpose vision for the diocese “Growing Communities of Faith and Engagement”. Specifically this is centred around three areas: growth in spiritual depth, growth in numbers and growth in engagement with the community. The week’s visit to Runnymede completed the cycle of six deanery visits for Bishop Ian.Bishop Ian was particularly impressed with the school work in various parishes, visiting Thorpe Infants VA, Lyne and Longcross Infants VA, Addlestone St Paul’s Primary VC, Addlestone Jubilee High Affiliated and Ottershaw Infant and Junior VC, as well as Royal Holloway College. The photo shows Bishop Ian during the interview (much harder than preaching, he commented!) at the concluding Deanery Evening Service at St Peter’s Church in Chertsey. ![]() |
