News from the Deanery Synod

Synod met at St Mary’s Thorpe on 21st March with an interesting programme including a review of Tim’s sabbatical with focus on his visit to Willowcreek Church in Chicago, the largest single church in the Western world, where he was much impressed by their compassion and outreach work; a presentation on our link diocese Kebbi in Nigeria following the Deanery Service on the occasion of Bishop Ian’s Call (see below) when a total of £161.52 were raised for the benefit of Kebbi, which Synod decided to double from the Deanery Kebbi Funds; and a lively discussion on the topic of the Anglican Community Covenant proposal which will soon go for vote in the Diocesan Synod in Guildford. Runnymede Synod voted in favour of the motion but with a significant number of abstentions.
